Beckie

Hi! My name is Beckie. I am a Registered Nurse by profession and my specialty is Maternal Newborn Care (Labor, Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn Care).  I earned my bachelor’s degree in nursing while my husband was attending Law School.  We had our fourth baby the summer before our senior years, so we definitely know the chaos of a busy life with babies and children!

After our graduations, we moved to Alaska where I began my career in pediatrics and then labor and delivery.  Along the way, we added 7 more children to our family—the last 3 in 4 years!  Eventually, Alaska’s cold weather and distance from family became unbearable so we headed down to the “lower 48” and landed in Utah.  This is where we added our last daughter to round out the Crawford dozen.

For me, the best part of being a nurse is working with families.  I love helping parents learn new skills that make parenting easier.  One thing that I have learned in 22 years of being a nurse and parenting 12 children of my own is that every child is different!  It doesn’t matter how many children you have, there is always something new to learn.

This is what I remember most about the day my 2nd daughter was born.  I did not know how to parent her.  My first daughter was easy going as a baby, but this girl was night and day different!  Everything was hot or cold, right or wrong.  She was sleeping or she was screaming.  I didn’t know what to do. I immediately went to school on her and began expanding my “toolbox” of parenting skills.  Over the years, I have faced a variety of challenges with pregnancies, deliveries, feeding, sleeping, etc.  I have continued learning with each child and have expanded my creativity as well as my skills.

Whether this is your first baby or you are rounding out your dozen or anywhere in between or beyond, I look forward to walking with you on this exciting path we call parenthood.  Click the button below and let’s chat!

frequently asked questions

Good question!  We are called The Mama Coach because years ago, when Carrie’s first boy was very small, she often wondered out loud to herself, “Where is my Mama Coach?” and “I need a Mama Coach!”.  Carrie searched and searched for qualified support and realized there was a need for qualified support for new families. We recognize that our name can give the impression that we only serve moms, but we will continue to work and learn to ensure our messaging is clear that all people are welcome here. Parents carry a heavy load, and do it with grace.  All parents deserve support, and The Mama Coach is the answer you’ve been searching for.

We do not just support moms — we help ALL people.  All are welcome here, and we are committed to providing you with quality support, no matter your gender or family dynamic.  As we learned in nursing school, your family is who YOU say they are.

We get asked this one all the time.  As Registered Nurses, having merely one method does not align with how we were trained in University to utilize the nursing process.

The Nursing Process is defined as, a “systematic approach to care using the fundamental principles of critical thinking, client-centered approaches to treatment, goal-oriented tasks, evidence-based practice (EDP) recommendations, and nursing intuition.  Holistic and scientific postulates are integrated to provide the basis for compassionate, quality-based care” (*1).

Simply put, we will assess your child using our nursing training to determine the best way to help your family reach their goals, walking beside you all the way.  You can choose us with confidence, knowing you have picked the most qualified resource to support your family’s journey.

Yes.  As Registered Nurses, we have years of training on where to access credible guidelines and information. All of our programming is based on extensive research from credible sources.

As Registered Nurses, it is our professional obligation to manage client records and confidential information properly.  We use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) that is compliant throughout North America.  Even though we share the same brand, we are all independent Registered Nurses with our own private practices. As such, we each have our own EMR that is private and secure. We do not share EMR or client information between one another without consent.

Often they are — the answer largely depends on where you live and what your private insurance covers.  For example, in Canada, our services are covered under ‘Lactation’, ‘Registered Nurse Services’ or ‘Health Spending Accounts’.  In the United States our services can be covered as well, through HSA or FSAs.  Reach out to me for more information.
